The California Academy Memorial Scholarship Fund is an opportunity to give back to the profession by providing funding for scholarships to people wishing to attend economic development training or certifications offered either by the California Academy for Economic Development (the Academy) or another recognized economic development organization. Contributions are tax deductible and may be in the form of one time gifts or sustaining contributions. Gifts may be named or general in nature.
Scholarships are awarded based on a specific set of objectives for advancement of the profession in California. To date, discussions have centered around three (3) themes:
- Funding of training for professionals in underserved communities
- Promote diversity in the profession (ethnic, gender)
- Attract a new generation into the profession (profession entry less than three years in field)
