Keys Course Waiver Form

Advanced Institute Course Waiver Form (complete one form for each course waiver request)

  • Standard Pathway (Keys Course +Advanced Institute)

    -Successfully complete Introduction to Economic Development Certificate Program ("Keys Course") in October.

    -Successfully complete Advanced Institute following Keys

    Provide a work summary demonstrating paid experience in 4 out of 8 economic development core areas on https://caled.org/ace-program/ and a reference (name and contact details)

  • Waiver of Keys Course

    In order to be eligible to request a waiver for the "Keys Course", at least one of two criteria must be met:

    1.) A minimum of 6 years experience in economic development and/or closely-related field is required:

    • Provide a summary of experience (including dates and relevancy of work in economic development) + a reference (name and contact details)
    • Experience is within the past 10 years

    2.) Successful completion of the Basic Economic Development Course (BEDC) in another state:

    • Provide course certificate or letter on course provider letterhead confirming successful completion of coursework
    • Acceptable BEDC course are those accepted by IEDC

    Please submit the waiver request form and supporting documentation to helen@caled.org by the deadline date to be considered for waiver.

  • Waiver of Advanced Institute Course(s)

    For each Advanced Institute course requested to be waived:

    • Provide course certificate or letter on course provider letterhead confirming successful completion of coursework
    • Acceptable course providers may include APA, OUEDI, IEDC, NDC, ULI
    • Course taken within past 5 years
    • Include course description (comparable to Advanced Institute course)

    Note: Only up to three (3) courses may be waived. Navigating the Regulatory Environment and Entitlement Process in California is not eligible for waiver.

    Please submit the waiver request form and supporting documentation to helen@caled.org by the deadline date to be considered for waiver.

  • Waiver for CEcD's

    CEcD's seeking waiver of Advanced Institute coursework:

    • Provide certificate or letter on IEDC letterhead confirming successful certification and current standing
    • Must be in current standing on CEcD requirements

    Note: Only up to three (3) courses may be waived. Navigating the Regulatory Environment and Entitlement Process in California Adv. Inst. course is not eligible for waiver.

    Please submit the supporting documentation specified above to helen@caled.org by the deadline date to be considered for waiver.
